Ship Barometer
Ship Barometer
Made by the Yanagi Instrument Company in Tokyo in 1984. This is the original ship vintage Blue Yanagi Aneroid Barometer. This is a really fascinating piece. Barometers are used to measure slight changes in air pressure, which helps with predicting the weather.
The aneroid barometer was invented in 1844 by Lucien Vidi, a French scientist. It is special in the sense that it does not involve liquid instead a small, flexible metal box called an aneroid cell.
